The first girls’ teams parents and coaches match was a great success with over 30 parents and coaches playing an 11-a-side match to raise money for their respective teams.
The game kicked off and the heavens opened. While the players carried on, the spectators played “How many can you fit in a gazebo?”
The answer was… a lot!
When the rain eased the under 13/14 team took the lead through a great bit of control and shot from Steve. The younger age group parents stormed back and only some breath taking goalkeeping from the 13/14 keeper Scott kept them at bay.
The game looked over in the second half when 13/14’s Dean scored with another fine goal,
The under 11/12s played their ace card: play all your team including your subs. The 16 battered Scott’s 13/14 goal but he stood firm until late in the game when 11/12’s Nathan turned on his magic and scored two goals.
The game finished a diplomatic 2-2. (Apologies for the lack of details for the 11/12 goals but the reporter was unable to move by then). There was time for a penalty shoot-out for each age group’s girls before a buffet organised by coach Kayleigh.
Well done Matt and the other coaches for organising the day which will surely be repeated next year.
